Features:
Turns full motor speed when installed directly to motor shaft.
The wheel is lightweight glass filled nylon & 5" diameter so it provides a very fast belt speed without sapping motor power like heavy wheels between plunge cuts. It's slightly dimpled for better belt traction
It turns 1/4 motor speed when connected to the counter shaft on the 4:1 reduction backing plate
The slow speed is ideal for turning small wheels without overheating the bearings found on small wheels
Also ideal for post heat treat grinding or sharpening where a slow belt speed is desirable & especially useful when grinding titanium.
The 4:1 gear reduction provides great low speed torque which is a great advantage, especially over using a smaller motor/vfd combo. An electric motor makes rated horsepower only when turning full speed; when speed is reduced via a vfd the horsepower decreases. This wheel overcomes the horsepower loss problem because the motor is always spinning at full speed.
An excellent value considering it's the only drive wheel you will need to purchase for your grinder, not necessary to purchase a regular drive wheel as well. Ideal for knife making where two belt speeds are required & a very cost effective method of obtaining this without having to use messy pulleys or expensive frequency drives.
